Westboro Baptist Church to Protest at 9-yr-old Christina Green Funeral

I rarely label someone or something evil but in the case of the Westboro Baptist Church and their leader Fred Phelps, these people are evil. According to CNN International, Phelps and his family of misfits plan to picket the funerals of the victims of the Tucson shootings. One of the funerals, 9-yr-old Christina Green.

The good news, if there’s anything related to this horrific tragedy you could classify as good, the Arizona legislature, in an emergency session, passed a law to limit the Phelps ability to protest.

TUCSON – The Arizona State Legislature today passed an emergency act
barring protest activities within 300 feet of the property of any establishment
during funeral or burial services.

SB1101 passed unanimously through the state house and senate today, as a measure
to prevent a controversial church’s planned protests outside the funerals and memorial
services of victims of Saturday’s tragedy.

Can you really be surprised by this? This is just typical of most christians, while many might not be as vocal, the sentiment is still the same. As far as I can see this is just more proof that the real “soldiers of Satan” are really in fact christians like these “people.” I put the word -people- in quotes because I don’t really consider anyone that would stoop as low as to protest a murdered child’s funeral as human. They are the exact type of filth that are ruining this planet as well as our freedoms.

Now of course you will hear the typical christian response that these scum do not represent all christians but most of the ones I have run into are not as far above these people in terms of beliefs as they like to think they are. You will also hear that this “church” is a front to make all christians look bad, but again, just have random conversations with devout christians to find out how that simply isn’t the case – they are really like this.

Lastly, you will hear mentions of the first amendment – “They have a right to say these things – Freedom of Speech!” –And I agree – 100%. But along with freedom comes responsibility and consequences. If you yell fire in a crowded theater and it causes a stampede that tramples people to death – you go to jail. If you threaten to kill the president, the Secret Service shows up at your house and takes you to Gitmo – The point is you will be held accountable for whatever it is you say – its even part of the Miranda Rights – “Anything you say can and will be held against you in a court of law.”

So exercise your freedom of speech, but be prepared for the consequences. If you protest a little girls funeral in the name of jesus and someone douses you in gasoline and sets you ablaze – well, then that’s the price you pay for your freedom and I couldn’t think of a more favorable outcome.
