One would think that in this day and age religion would have simply been a laughable historical footnote. But then again, if it was, we wouldn’t have half the problems we do in this world. Its no real surprise that religion is the primary cause of the wars, the hate, the violence, the death and destruction that permeate the planet these days.

Its bad enough that the Governor of Kentucky has spent $40 million in tax payer dollars to erect a creationist theme park but now we have this;


The recently elected Alabama governor on the day of his swearing in, Robert J. Bentley said;


“Anybody here today who has not accepted Jesus Christ as their savior, I’m telling you, you’re not my brother and you’re not my sister.”


The fact that the new governor is a Sunday school teacher and deacon at Tuscaloosa’s First Baptist Church should have been a red flag to begin with but the fact that this whack job actually got elected says a lot about the kind of people who live in Alabama. But what do you expect from a state that actually took the time to ban sex toys. So having sex with family members and farm animals is okay, but vibrators are illegal.


The very first line of the First Amendment states;


“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion…”


That right there is separation of church and state. There is a reason this is important, look to Saudi Arabia, or the former rule of the Afghan Taliban to find out why. The problem is most people believe that the “Christian Taliban” would some how be different than the Islamic one.


As much as I would love for those fools to find out the hard way, the rest of us have to live here too.
